Help for phobias and fears in Cornwall

You can overcome phobias and fears in only 6-8 weeks with The Thrive Programme, in Falmouth. I also welcome enquiries from Truro, St. Austell, Exeter and Cornwall.

What is a phobia?

A phobia is an intense fear of a situation or an object that wouldn't normally worry other people. People can develop a phobia about any object, and about any situation.

People may experience a fear for a long period of time, but it may not dramatically affect their lives. They may feel a bit uncomfortable or anxious but they can get through the situation. Sometimes when someone feels very anxious, knowing that they are going to have to confront their fear, they may make the decision to avoid the situation instead. Once this starts to happen the fear can impact someone's live and start to change the things they do (or don't do). Fears can easily be overcome with The Thrive Programme at Thrive with Ali, covering Falmouth and Truro.

Common phobias and fears

A cure for phobias and fears at Thrive with Ali

Here are some of the most common phobias, however, people can develop a phobia about any object, and any situation.

How phobias and fears can affect your life

  • realising that your fear is out of proportion

  • being unable to control or explain it

  • avoiding the situation or object that causes your fear/phobia

  • severely restrict your life through avoiding many situations

I have gone from dreading any kind of social activities to embracing them and enjoying them with open arms. Whilst flying has never really bothered me, I have always disliked busy airports, but having been skiing recently I can now say that they truly no longer bother me. It is also such a relief to no longer be afraid to go to the local supermarket for the food shop. Before meeting Alison I hadn’t set foot in a large supermarket for a couple of months as the bright lights, noises and sheer amount of people and produce was overload for my brain and I couldn’t deal with it all. Now, I don’t even think twice about going into a supermarket to get my food, and I no longer notice the bright lights and hundreds of items available for purchasing. I hope that other people with fears, phobias and anxieties would think about doing the Thrive programme because it was truly changed my life.

Shona who had fear of heights but had been bought tickets to see a rugby match at Twickenham. When she realised that she would be high up in tier 3 she was extremely worried about it. After just one session which involved  some aspects of The Thrive Programme, Shona not only went to Twickenham but throughly enjoyed the experience. Shona sent me an email the day after she had been:

Hi Alison

I wanted to let you know that I had a great day at Twickenham and felt good sitting in tier 3.
Thank you for your help, it really made the difference and I don’t have to avoid high ‘scary’ places anymore!
Best wishes
Shona
