About Chiropractic

What is Chiropractic

Chiropractic is a primary healthcare profession specialising in the diagnosis, correction and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the effects of these disorders on  the function of the nervous system and general health.

We live through our nervous system

Our brain and nervous system regulates and controls every cell, tissue, organ and muscle in our body. It determines how we respond to any kind of stress – be it physical, chemical or emotional. When our system gets overloaded, the nervous system can develop blockages or compensatory patterns. Chiropractors call these subluxations.

Chiropractic care is all about removing these blockages through highly specific and skilled adjustments, thus restoring full function of our nervous system. When our nervous system is free, it can finally adapt to stress better, allowing us to heal and Thrive!

Who we Help...

Let’s face it, being a human being on planet Earth isn’t always an easy job! We live in a time of information overwhelm, often juggling multiple roles with family and working life. Physical, chemical and emotional stressors can all take their toll on our body and soul.

Anyone with a spine and nervous system can benefit from chiropractic adjustments. However, research has shown that chiropractic care often has great results with resolving the following…

  • Back pain.
  • Neck pain.
  • Sciatica.
  • General aches & pains (including hip and knee pain from osteoarthritis.)
  • Headaches arising from the neck.
  • Migraine prevention.
  • Shoulder or elbow pain (related to back & neck issues.)
  • Improved function & wellbeing for expecting mothers, babies and children.
  • Tension and inability to relax.

The possibilities of chiropractic care are not limited to this list, but are some of the most common conditions we see and help with every day.

Service that is Professional & Safe

As chiropractors we are regulated by the General Chiropractic Council. To be a chiropractor it requires a minimum of 4 years of full-time study in addition to 30 hours of annual continuing professional development. We undergo rigorous training into all aspects of health, meaning that by the time we graduate our knowledge and ability to diagnose conditions is similar to that of a junior doctor.

What to expect

Your visit will be focused on getting to know you and your story, giving you the time and space to voice your health concerns and also your health goals. We will then perform a series of assessments and tests focused on your nerve, muscle and joint function. From here we will be able to establish a clear diagnosis and how much care will be necessary to reach your goals.

Follow up appointments will be focused on making specific adjustments to your spine and nervous system, and checking in with how your health journey is going. Often diet and lifestyle advice will be given along the way to empower you to know yourself and your body better.

Once you’ve reached your goals, you have the option to get checked and adjusted periodically (just like getting your teeth checked at the dentist). This wellness approach is aimed at optimising your health and function, and preventing the return of old patterns.

What is an Adjustment?

The chiropractic adjustment removes blockages in your nervous system. There are many ways to do this, all of which are safe, respectful and in tune with your body. Some adjustments are very gentle, allowing stored tension to unwind by itself (suitable for babies, young children, and elderly patients) whilst traditional or ‘diversified’ adjustments are more dynamic and are aimed at releasing stuck spinal segments (sometimes associated with a ‘clicking’ which is safe and just gas bubbles releasing!). Every human being is unique, so every adjustment will be unique and tailored to their specific needs.
Our Chiropractors Amy and Vicky have trained in low-impact, gentle techniques, as well as traditional techniques, so that they can offer a tailored approach.

Start Feeling Better Today!

I have been seeing Vicky for just over a month now and she has helped alleviate back/shoulder pain and debilitating migraines. She is very knowledgeable of chiropractic care and extremely professional. Would recommend.

R.P. – Northwood

I have suffered for years with a bad shoulder. I had seen another chiropractor a few years ago but felt dismissed and unheard. From my initial consultation with Vicky I have been listened too and treated with kindness and professionalism. The treatments have really helped and I have felt supported throughout it all with lots of information available and great communication.  I would highly recommend Vicky.

I am so happy to have found Amy, I have never received such powerful, intuitive, holistic treatment in all the time I’ve had chiropractic care with other practitioners both in the UK and abroad. Amy honestly delivers next-level adjustments, it’s evident she is extremely experienced, incredibly attuned to the energy body, and highly trained on how the whole body works as a system (having been scarred from previous practitioners cracking and wrenching me into positions, working with Amy is the total opposite). My body has never felt better since an accident 5 years ago – no more chronic pelvic pain – and I’ve only been in Amy’s care for two months! I cannot recommend her enough.
